I appreciate all the advice from the board. I have nine hours on my 1070 now and love it. It has all the power I need. I moved 18 round bails weighing 800 lbs apeice last weekend and have cut about 10 acres of grass with it. I haven't had time to hook up the six foot box blade but look forward to using it. My mower is a six foot Big Bee finish mower. The tractor turns much sharper than my old Massey 240 and although the books say otherwise I swear it has more power. The only problem was it was a little light on the front end so I picked up some suitcase weights and that made a huge difference with the round bales.I almost bought a 4400 but liked all the metal (as opposed to plastic) on the 1070. It is the smoothest shifting tractor I ever drove. I am still waiting for the dealer to get the horizontal exhaust pipe, but haven't had trouble with the vertical stack.Does anyone know how much it would cost to add hydraulics and a loader. I figure I could move the bales twice as fast with it.Thanks everyone, hope I didn't bore you.James

Roger,The tractor I purchased was new and held over. I hate to say but am not sure if itsa 97 or 98. I think its a 98. In any event it is new. The dealer showed me the listprice, $18750. I paid $14,242.00 with tax. It has 38.5 engine hp. and 35 pto hp.and ag tires (which I needed). Although not as stylish it seemed a better deal thanthe 4000 series. Also, the only thing plastic is the hood, which I liked better than the 4000 series.Later,James ....

Glad to hear you like your 1070. I bought an 870 last year and love it. I haven'thad one bit of trouble with it and have about 80 hours on the tractor. I have the 440 loader which I believe is the same loader you would put on your tractor and I believe you can add that for around $3000.00 give or take a few hundred one way or the other. Hope you have as good of luck with your tractor as I have had. ....

As an owner of a 1955 40u,a 1956 420c and a 1957 420c I thought it was time to upgrade my equipment pool so I went out this spring and found a used 1070.It is a 1994 with 1020hrs.It came with 4wd,440 loader, mid and rear pto,aux hydraulicoutlets in rear and a heated cab.I must have died and gone to heaven! All thisfor the equivalent of $14,500.US This unit was owned by a landscaping contractoruntil it was repossessed by John Deere Credit. The backhoe had been sold by thecontractor before it went back to the dealer.(unfortunatly).I'm now looking for a set of pallet forks to fit on the 440 loader if any one can help please call.tel: 514-283-9193.THANKS! ....
